This season we are featuring “charity: water.”
WHY?
We all know how important it is to drink at least 8 cups of water a day. Imagine if you could not drink clean water…at all. While it’s easy for us to complain about all the extras we have in life, water is a basic, necessary one. And often, we take it for granted.
charity: water is doing amazing things for people who don’t have access to clean water. In collaborations with individuals and organizations around the globe, they bring clean, safe drinking water to people in developing countries. They use 100% of public donations to directly fund sustainable water solutions in areas of greatest need.
DID YOU KNOW?
Right now, 800 million people on the planet don’t have access to clean and safe drinking water. That’s one in nine of us.
Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren’t strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses.
