What is WAKE THE WOLVES™ (WTW)?
Wake the Wolves™ is a mantra – a “to-the-point,” healthy hub created for all you colorful, busy, and hungry folks out there looking to get your “healthy” routine on. We roll you out of bed each day and show you simple ways to eat + live like you matter SO YOU can go out and be that energetic superstahh in the world (that everyone and their mama depends on you to be).
WHAT DO WE DO HERE?
We focus on creating healthy habits in your life through our visually-centric digital book series, 30-day food challenges (coming soon…), blog post articles, video interviews with *special folks*, stylish statement tees, home goods, and our weekly newsletters. Don’t miss out on the good stuff. Learn more here.
Who are WE?
I’m Steph. And my partner-in-kale-crime is Graham. We’re the co-creators (and 7-year test guinea pigs on our “healthy experiments”). Together, we’re growing a referral team of health coaches, cooks, lifestylists, designers, authors, fitness pros, and wellness gurus here to wake up your inner wolf. We share and REPRESENT being ethnically diverse and we talk straight about how to “keep your roots” while creating healthy habits that will last a life time. And believe us, we will address the hilarious craziness that we hear all the time: “Hey grandma. Sorry I don’t eat rice anymore. I’m on a low-carb diet.” Want to read more about us? Maybe secretly dig around in our profiles to see how legit we are? Meet the team.
Who is this for?
You, your mama, and everyone in between. If you are done with the yo-yo diets and quick fixes (starvation liquid meals included), and want to learn how to shop, prep, and cook healthy meals (for you and/or a mini crew), revamp your daily routines to be effective and productive, improve your energy so you feel better, and just plain ol’ HANDLE YOUR BUSINESS in a way that leaves you satisfied and happy by the time you hit the pillow, then this is the place for you. And even more, if you want credible, bite-size tidbits that you can absorb on busy days, with visuals to “show you how” (from people that will make you laugh), then this most definitely is the place for you!
Now, who is this NOT for?
This is NOT for someone who is looking for quick, magic weight-loss plans (to gain it back in a few months). This is not for someone who is not willing to get involved and participate in their food, daily routine, lifestyle choices, etc. This is not for someone who does not want to work hard to achieve their goals (and see results). This is not for someone who is sensitive to cuss words and plain (ass-backwards) English. And this is definitely not for negative Nancies (or Nathans). See ya!
What you can expect?
Expect visually titillating, entertaining, funny, helpful, not-so-stuffy (but credible) videos, photos, illustrations, and written gems that will blow your mind, and quite possibly change the way you think about your health — or even better — change your life. We go DEEP. We go H.A.M.
What’s H.A.M.?
“Healthy as a Motha…”
I heard you “give back.” What’s that about?
We believe the world goes round when we give back. It’s a give, share, receive, kind of situation. So – every season we pick a new FEATURED organization that makes a positive dent in the world. A percentage of the proceeds from our multi-use tea towels (also great for aprons and lunch bags) goes directly towards our hand-selected non-profit partner. More on GIVING BACK here.

What’s the story behind our name?
Our name is inspired by a an old Cherokee parable where a grandfather is teaching his grandson about life. It goes like this:
An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life…
“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.
“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.”“One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.”
“The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.”
“This same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”
The old chief simply replied, “The one you feed.”
We all have an inner wolf. And every day we have an opportunity to CHOOSE which one we feed, nourish, and grow. There’s no better time than NOW to WAKE UP and live like we matter.
On a serendipitous side-note. Graham and I are proud parents of Angel (our Siberian Husky). She’s our wolf and guardian Angel. We’re SO delighted to share her with you too.
PERSONAL FAQ’S
What’s OUR food philosophy?
Eat real, whole, unprocessed foods.
Beef-up on leafy greens.
Reduce refined sugars.
Cook your food.
Then share it.
WE talk about veggies a lot. Do WE eat meat?
Yes, but not all day, err day (but we used to). We live, share, and write about going veggie-centric. This means the majority of what we consume lives in the veggie and fruit aisle (because there’s so many pros and very little cons), but this does not mean we don’t eat animal protein, nor do we prescribe any one way of handling your dietary needs. Eat real.
Yes, we eat bacon, but it’s highly unlikely we’d consume it if we didn’t know where it came from. I mean…have you seen how they treat animals on some of these massive farms? It makes us sick…and sad…and utterly frustrated. At the same time, we aren’t perfect. Crap meat makes it to our plate – usually when we’re at a restaurant. Do we freak out? Nope. Just strive for better the next time.
Can I still eat (fill in the blank) [i.e. – mayonnaise]?
Eat what you want, but it’s all about the ingredients. Go simple and recognizable. True mayonnaise is traditionally made up of simple ingredients: oil + egg yolks + salt + lemon juice/vinegar. Is that what’s in your bottle? Flip the package over and find out what you’re truly putting in your beautiful body. 9 times out of 10, it’s probably filler. READ SON!
How did you lose weight, Graham?
“It was a slow and steady process. I learned to integrate a good amount of vegetables for all my meals – including breakfast. And I used to hate kale, but eat it daily now. I crave it. I played hoop a few times a week, still ate ice cream (but not as much), removed all the processed junk (especially my ol’ favorite coffee creamer and Coke) and walked my dog for an hour everyday. This was something that I could maintain and I still keep it up.” More on Graham’s story here.
Do WE eat healthy all the time?
We aim to eat real, good, food when we go out. Does that mean we don’t eat ice cream? or shmancy burgers? or a freshly, muddled drinks to toast it up on a Friday night? Psshh. Keep dreaming. We’re human.
