Building Healthy Families with Love and Turmeric
We are on the last few days of vacation this summer before heading back to San Francisco to ramp-up city life again. Graham and I are diggin this island life – catching up on tropical fruit, my favorite Hawaiian dishes (lots of poi), and special moments with my family on the sunny island of Oahu.
Every trip I take seems to create it’s own theme. A few months ago in St. John, U.S Virgin Islands, it was all about letting go of control and immersing myself in 100% pure fun and spontaneity. This trip has organically grown into a theme of aging gracefully, and building healthy families from afar.
As I watch my aunties, uncles, and tutus (grandmas) face new obstacles around their health (diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer, heart disease, and the common arthritis), I am also blessed to watch my cousins raise new generations of keikes (kids) that are reversing the statistics that say they too will be prone to disease and obesity.
Small, simple changes in our nutrition and lifestyle now (no matter our age), can really make a difference in the quality of our tomorrows.
Enjoy, be well, and most important…bring your family along with you.
